On November 6, 2008 I made a request under the Texas Public Information Act for a copy of the emails to and from the Office of the Governorof Texas for the prior four days. This and eight subsequent emails were sent automatically from this domaing. The email retention policy of the Office of the Governor of Texas is seven (7) days. After seven days emails are destroyed by the staff of the Governor inspite of the fact that Texas state law requires general correspondences must be retained for at least a year regardles of format.
By asking for the emails though the electronic shredders came to a halt and the soap opera below began.
